Designed for people and the planet.

Recognizing the significant impact the built environment has on both people and the planet has always shaped our approach to product design. It’s what we call sustain[HUMAN]ability.®

  • Designed with intention.

Human Potential

People spend almost 90% of their time indoors -- at home, at school, at work, in restaurants, stores, hospitals, sports venues, and more. We've become an indoor species.

That's why we're focused wholeheartedly on the ingredients that go into our products and the effects of sound, moisture, cleanability, and other design considerations as well as our products' environmental footprint. It's about people and the planet.

We are proud to offer our commercial and residential customers around the world the option to enjoy beautiful sustainable products through our diverse brand portfolio that includes: Anderson Tuftex, COREtec, Patcraft, Philadelphia Commercial, Shaw Contract, Shaw Floors, Shaw Sports Turf, Shawgrass, Southwest Greens, Watershed Geo and more.

Material Health

At Shaw, we design products for people and the planet with human health, environmental responsibility, and transparency at the core of our innovation. This commitment is reflected through careful evaluation of ingredients used in our products, a focus on supporting indoor air quality, and our leadership in circular design.

Almost 90% of the products Shaw manufactures are Cradle to Cradle Certified®, and meet other rigorous third-party standards including GREENGUARDCRI Green Label PlusFloorScore, and NSF 140. To further support our transparency efforts, we maintain Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Health Product Declarations (HPDs) on many commercial and residential products, as well as Living Building Challenge (LBC) Compliant Declare labels on several commercial products.

Product Carbon Footprint

Shaw has been systematically measuring more and more of our products' footprints through comprehensive lifecycle assessments (LCAs) since 2004 and creating Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to share with customers what we know.

Those LCAs have been instrumental in helping us identify the greatest opportunities to further reduce our products' footprints. In fact, we've reduced the embodied carbon footprint of our EcoWorx carpet tile products by almost 70% compared to 2016 - by using our EcoSolution Q100® fiber. EcoSolution Q100 is a high performance nylon fiber that offers 100% recycled content, allocated from waste minimization and collection efforts.

Product End of Life

At Shaw, we’re committed to reusing materials that might otherwise become waste, giving them new life through thoughtful design and sustainable practices.

An industry leader in the reclamation and recycling of end-of-use carpet, we have reclaimed and recycled almost 1 billion pounds of post-consumer flooring since 2006. And we are continuously expanding and improving our product takeback program, which includes our EcoWorx® carpet tile, Shaw-made resilient, and EcoWorxTM Resilient products.

Driven by our dedication to sustainability and innovation, we also transform end-of-use synthetic turf fields into patented NXTPlay® high performance shock pad available from Shaw Sports Turf. Since the product’s launch, we’ve already reclaimed more than 13 million pounds of synthetic turf, keeping the cycle of sustainability going strong.

And we use convert more than 1 billion plastic bottles a year into flooring -- turning another industry's waste into a valuable resource.

But for us, circularity is about more than just diverting waste from landfills — it's about selecting materials that are not only safe and sustainable but also capable of being reused again and again. And by using thoughtfully selected recycled content, we can minimize the need for virgin raw materials, which in turn reduces the carbon footprint of that new product.
