    Why Shaw:

    Shaw has provided me the opportunity for cross divisional growth.  I feel challenged and empowered to bring innovative solutions into my work in order to develop successful business outcomes as well as improve personal development.  It does not feel like work - it feels like family, joy, and excitement daily.  

    What I Do:

    I lead Shaw's residential inside sales professionals, the technical experts in our Information Center, and the consumer concierge team.  These teams improve the overall consumer experience by using their vast product knowledge to provide guidance and uncover consumer insights, as well as ensure our retail partners are fully equipped to make the sale to the consumer.

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I focus on the development of my team through open candid communication of purpose, goals and expectations. I seek friendship with uncertainty and change to drive the continual growth for our business, our people and our community.

    Why Shaw:

    During my senior year in college, a project for my Entrepreneurship class lead me to Dalton. I spent the entire semester conducting research in the area and this is how I learned about the company. I like that I have the opportunity to work for an industry leader and a company that is so connected with the community.

    What I Do:

    I am currently a Contract Specialist for our Commercial Marketing Services team and manage Shaw's corporate and retail contracts. It is rewarding to create/facilitate customer solutions and incorporate those solutions into legal documents; these contracts not only promote business growth, they also provide legal protection for our company.  

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I ensure the integrity in every legal document/agreement that I am responsible for, I create a better future by sharing my successes and failures with my teammate so we can all grow together and lastly, I create a better future by giving back to our community through organizations including United Way and Junior Achievement.

    Why Shaw:

    I lead several corporate functions including Innovation, Corporate Engineering, the CIM group (automation), Corporate Energy and Reliability, and Materials Recovery.  The group of technical business leaders on my team impact every operation within the company, from Marketing and Manufacturing to Customer Fulfillment.

    Human Resources Manager

    Why Shaw:

    I started working for Shaw in 2004 in corporate operations training and development in Dalton, Ga. Shaw provided me the opportunity to return to my home state of Arizona in 2007 as a human resources manager at Plant WQ in Yuma, AZ and, in 2009, Shaw allowed me take an extended military leave of absence to serve our great country. I have been supported every step of the way.

    What I Do:

    As the human resources manager for Shaw’s newest carpet tile manufacturing facility in Adairsville, Ga., Plant T1, my role focuses on creating an environment where associates feel safe and can bring their best to help make our company successful. This includes seeking the best talent and working daily to create a culture where individuals feel valued in the workplace. 

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I am creating a better future by focusing on people and looking at ways to make all of us better. For example, my first role at Shaw was to create and manage a leadership development program that targeted Shaw’s plant hourly workforce. With this direction and support, REACH (Reaching Employees to Achieve Company Heights) was born. The results of this initiative have helped some in our workforce be promoted into positions like manufacturing supervisor, I.S. help desk tech, H.R. representative and other types of jobs.

    What I Do:

    As a member of the commercial business leadership team, I have the opportunity to develop strategy for growth.  I lead the commercial business marketing and design teams for both Shaw Contract and Patcraft including brand strategy, global strategy, product planning across soft and hard surface, innovation, and all marketing support and design services.

    I empower my team to follow their curiosity, to learn from our clients about their needs, and then to innovate for design and performance leadership in the market.

    Industrial Maintenance Training Manager

    Why Shaw:

    I’ve had the opportunity to work as a project engineer, plant engineer and I now manage the START maintenance training program. Each role was completely different, but I was still able collaborate with colleagues to solve problems, improve processes and implement solutions to make our work environments more effective and efficient.

    What I Do:

    I manage the industrial maintenance training program for Shaw Industries. We offer instructor led and online training classes for mechanics and electricians, as well as engineers interested in strengthening their maintenance skills.

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I’m creating a better future by supporting a culture of innovation and strategic risk taking. My involvement with developing the Shaw MakerSpace will empower associates to experiment and pursue new ways of doing things.

    Why Shaw:

    I got my professional start with Shaw as a co-op student, and it was a really positive experience. I worked out of state for a while, but when I moved back for family reasons, it seemed like a good fit.

    What I Do:

    I am a plant engineer. I manage the maintenance department for a combined carpet and yarn facility.  My team and I are responsible for equipment reliability and energy management.

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I am creating a better future by developing people to be the best that they can be. The best part of my job is coaching and developing associates to take on greater roles. I enjoy mentoring and empowering people into action. My advice: If you see a need, fill it. Offer solutions rather than excuses. Put yourself in a position to give more than you take.

While this includes decisions around equipment and product offerings, it also means establishing the right culture for success. I make sure we are taking the long term view with all of our endeavors and strive to balance the needs of the individual, the customer and the business.

    Why Shaw:

    I joined Shaw after graduating college.  Being from Dalton, Ga. area, I was familiar with Shaw and wanted to work for a company that I was confident I could have growth opportunities with. During my career, we have experienced booming and lean economic conditions, but through it all, there have always been opportunities.  Being with Shaw now for nearly 16 years, I know I made the right choice!
     

    What I Do:

    I oversee and collaborate with a team that handles claims for International, home centers, specialty markets, Sherwin Williams, Shaw Grass and Southwest Greens, Promotional Goods, online and internal accounts.

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I am creating a better future through my involvement with WiN (Women’s Innovation Network), which supports the development of women leaders at Shaw by providing access to resources and opportunities that help drive successful careers.  I have been a WiN community leader since its inception. I am passionate about the positive changes being made at Shaw to ensure we continue to grow and lead the industry.

    Why Shaw:

    What I Do:

    I get to communicate with the Shaw organization on a daily basis, telling them about a new product, or a team that won an award, or an associate that saved a coworker’s life. These stories are a celebration of who we are as a company. I love hearing a good story and being able to share that with others.

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I create a better future by connecting people and bringing them together. For several years now, I’ve organized a Shaw running team that participated in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend in Memphis. Not only does the team get to compete and do the thing we love, we also get to share about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with our family and friends.

    Why Shaw:

    Shaw has given me many opportunities including a rewarding experience overseas as part of the technical start-up team for our carpet tile manufacturing facility in China. A world away and with limited access to traditional resources, we delivered a newly designed process that was fully operational and successfully delivered to the Chinese production team.

    What I Do:

    I support all company product certifications, eco-Labels, and product transparency claims for commercial carpet, resilient, fibers, and tile & stone along with their related sundries.

    I create a better future by doing the right things right. I believe in kindness, hard work and a shared responsibility to protect each other and our environment. My current role in sustainability allows me to influence how Shaw does the right things right for our associates, customers and the environment.

    Why Shaw:

    I've worked at Shaw for 32 years, since I was 19 years old.  Shaw has provided me with many opportunities, and I've always felt a part of the family. 

    What I Do:

    I am Shaw’s director of marketing services.  I lead a dynamic team of marketing professionals that complete compelling proposals, negotiate contracts, develop marketing collateral, and create and manage commercial digital marketing. 

    How I Create a Better Future:

    My passion is my team, and I am creating a better future by empowering and inspiring excellence in them. A great team can accomplish anything. My goal is to always exceed our customer's expectations, take on projects that stretch and grow us, and do more than we thought we could.

    Why Shaw:

    Shaw provides me the opportunity to make a difference.  I have had four different positions since joining the company in 2006.  Each of those has placed me in a position to solve problems and make the company better.  I enjoy coming to work each day knowing that the team I work with will have the opportunity to do that. 

    What I Do:

    I am a plant manager at Shaw Plant EG in Ringgold, Ga., a first-of-its-kind recycling process for post-consumer carpets.  The patented process is completely unique, providing a means of converting both nylon and polyester carpets into raw materials for new products.  Like any startup, the road has been bumpy and the learning curves have been roller-coaster-steep.  Nonetheless, the plant team and our technical support groups have moved the plant in less than a year from initial startup trials to 24/7 operations.

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I am working to create a better future by helping my team be its best.  At Plant EG, that means empowering every member to be creative and think outside of their basic job description.  The results have been rapid process improvement, rapid resolution of issues, and a fully-engaged team that sees their potential differently than they did when they entered the door a year ago.

    Why Shaw:

    Since 1990, Shaw has provided me the opportunity to learn, grow and develop and I have benefited greatly in my journey. I believe Shaw values its people, their ideas and their futures. I feel empowered and challenged everyday to be the very best that I can possibly be. My question would be, Why not Shaw?

    What I Do:

    I manage and oversee product launch processes for hard surface products. This includes ensuring assignments are completed on time related to product trials, testing, and installation method evaluation. I also monitor production releases and time to market.

    How I Create a Better Future:

    In the words of Maya Angelou, I strive to be “a rainbow in the clouds” for others - to reach, teach, love, respect, encourage, inspire, motivate, and empower them regardless of race, educational level, economic status, political affiliations, obstacles or hurdles. When you dedicate yourself to becoming ALL you were meant to be, then and only then, can you achieve it.

I get inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s quote, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." By diligently playing my role, I feel I am making a difference every day, creating a better future for myself, my organization and my community.

    Why Shaw:

    I started with Shaw as a co-op student while attending Auburn University. I stayed because of the opportunity to be involved in driving environmental excellence at Shaw. I also valued the company’s willingness to give new associates the opportunity to advance based on merit.

    What I Do:

    My group oversees voluntary eco-label certifications and product environmental compliance and helps direct green chemistry, product transparency and disclosure initiatives. I also often have the opportunity to speak publicly about Shaw’s sustainability strategy. I recently presented to a large group of Shaw’s European customers and was able to raise their awareness of our sustainability programs and share the product specific sustainability initiatives we have that are directly relevant to the markets they are in. 

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I am creating a better future by challenging conventional wisdom about what is possible to provide to costumers. I do this by educating our sales and marketing groups on what we can and are doing, supporting customer service in giving assurances about the chemistry and safety of our products, and engaging our customers directly on the great successes Shaw is accomplishing regarding sustainability.

    I love working for Shaw because they are open to new ideas and offer a variety of experiences regardless of your position.  I work in design, but I also work alongside manufacturing, marketing, advertising and sales. This gives me a really well-rounded understanding of the company as a whole. Shaw is a company that cares about its people and works to help them grow in the areas that interest them. 

    What I Do:

    I am a senior product designer for Shaw Contract’s commercial and professional services. My passion is in conceptualizing and executing new innovative techniques, processes and designs that change the way we use and think about flooring.  At Shaw Contract, I am encouraged to innovate and am always learning something new as well as strengthening my skills.

    I create a better future by conceptualizing and designing products that push the industry to rethink processes and imagine new possibilities in innovation.

    Each day I recount the impact Shaw has had on my life. I am inspired by our culture, but more importantly, by the people who improve me every day. I am also challenged, fulfilled and rewarded in every accomplishment. There is truly something dynamic and unique among us. Other companies try to replicate it but can't. The culture is a part of us, and it is our competitive advantage. 

    What I Do:

    I work with retail stakeholders to promote best in class consumer experiences in store and online. With are taking new approaches to marketing our brand and simplifying the shopping process. My retail marketing experiences have allowed me to focus deeply in our many channels of business including the most recent assignment of consumer branding focus of COREtec, The Original Waterproof floor.  

     

    How I Create a Better Future:

    I am  empowering my team to let their expertise lead them in our goal to create demand for Shaw Floors and providing our consumers with a deeper awareness of Shaw, where every decision is made with them in mind. My greatest experience has been in sharing Shaw's commitment to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in its fight to provide cures and save lives. I feel complete in exposing Shaw's heart to the world through our efforts.

    I have been with Shaw for 13 years.  I enjoy working for Shaw because of the opportunities for career growth.  I am in my sixth different position with the company, all of which have been promotions.  I feel that Shaw values its employees and truly demonstrates that people are its greatest asset.

    What I Do:

    I work with the commercial quality engineering managers, research and development, marketing, sales and the claims departments to ensure Shaw's commercial carpet meets and exceeds our customer's expectations and that our commercial carpet product complies with all regulatory and voluntary certification requirements.

    I am creating a better future by providing my team with the tools and resources neded to empower them to make decisions that will strengthen and grow the commercial carpet business.
