Growth Through Acquisition

During the 1980s and 1990s, Shaw experienced rapid growth through acquisition. In 1989, Al Scruggs was dressed in a Halloween costume and passing out candy when he learned that the company he worked for, the Evans & Black brand of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., was acquired by Shaw Industries.
